Application Guide for MUC English-taught Master’s Programs 2026

Minzu University of China (MUC) is a key national high-level research university. It has been included in the national "211 Project" and "985 Project" for key construction, and is one of China's 36 Class A "Double First-Class" universities. The university offers a comprehensive range of disciplines, with strengths in humanities and social sciences, while actively developing science, engineering, and medical disciplines. The university has 24 schools conducting postgraduate education, among which 11 schools offer 12 full-English taught master's programs for global students. Instructors for international students possess international perspectives, strong professional capabilities, and high English proficiency. The university boasts an inclusive and diverse culture, bringing together students from all 56 ethnic groups in China and international students from over 50 countries. The university provides opportunities for international students to participate in China national conditions research, cultural practices, field investigations, and more.

III.Application Method

Please log in to the MUC Online Application System For International Students (), complete the online application and pay the application fee of CNY600 which is non-refundable no matter admitted or not.

IV.Application Documents

1. Personal Information Page of Passport. If the validity of the applicant’s current passport does not meet the requirement, which means the expiry date of the passport should be after March 1, 2027, please apply for a new passport before submitting the application. Passport information cannot be changed before registration of enrollment.

2. Notarized Highest Diploma: Prospective diploma winners must submit official proof of student status by their current school. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

3. Academic Transcripts: Copies of academic records from first to last semester during the undergraduate, graduate (if any) shall be provided. These transcripts shall be issued and sealed by the attending university’s academic affairs office, graduate school, or student management department. They can be in Chinese or English, but must be attached with notarized English translations if they are in foreign languages other than English.

4. Personal Statement: Master’s program applicants are required to write at least 1000 words in Chinese or English. The content includes, but is not limited to, academic background, work experience and achievements, application reasons, research plan, career goals after graduation, etc. The template is available in Annex 2.

5. Two Letters of Recommendation: Two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors for Master’s program applicants. The letter shall describe, but is not limited to, the applicant’s objectives of learning in China, research capabilities, work achievements, evaluation of future growth, as well as the professor’s signature and contact information. The recommendation date should not be earlier than September 1, 2025.

6. Language Proficiency Certificates(excluding native English speakers): applicants must provide an official transcript such as a TOEFL score of ≥80, an IELTS score of ≥6.0, or a proof of equivalent English proficiency recognized by MUC . Applicants whose previous degree was taught entirely in English must provide an official certificate from their previous institution confirming English as the medium of instruction.

7. Foreigner Physical Examination Form: The physical examinations must cover all of the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form, filled in Chinese or English. Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are considered invalid. Please carefully plan your physical examination schedule as the result is valid for only 6 months. The template is available in Annex 3.

8. Non-Criminal Record Report: The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application.

9. Supervisor Acceptance Letter (if any): The content includes the information of a prospective supervisor from Minzu University of China, the descriptions of the applicant’s studies or research in China etc. The template is available in Annex 4.

10. Supplementary Materials. For example, the catalogs and abstracts of your published papers, award certificates, etc.
